چکیده
We measure nonlocal third-order spatial correlations in nondegenerate ultracold gases of bosonic ($^{84}\mathrm{Sr}$) and spin-polarized fermionic ($^{87}\mathrm{Sr}$) strontium through studies the formation rates for ultralong-range trimer Rydberg molecules. The production rate is observed to be very sensitive effects quantum statistics with a strong enhancement up factor 6 (3!), case $^{84}\mathrm{Sr}$ due bunching marked reduction $^{87}\mathrm{Sr}$ antibunching. experimental results are compared theoretical predictions good agreement observed. present approach opens way situ higher-order wide array atomic-gas systems.

Pump-probe spectroscopy of two-body correlations in ultracold gases.
We suggest pump-probe spectroscopy to study pair correlations that determine the many-body dynamics in weakly interacting, dilute ultracold gases. A suitably chosen, short laser pulse depletes the pair density locally, creating a "hole" in the electronic ground state. The dynamics of this nonstationary pair density is monitored by a time-delayed probe pulse. The resulting transient signal allow...
متن کاملNonlocal nonlinear optics in cold Rydberg gases.
We present an analytical theory for the nonlinear optical response of a strongly interacting Rydberg gas under conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency. Simple formulas for the third-order optical susceptibility are derived and shown to be in excellent agreement with recent experiments. The obtained expressions reveal strong nonlinearities, which in addition are of highly nonlocal...
متن کاملQuantum simulations with ultracold quantum gases
Ultracold quantum gases offer a unique setting for quantum simulation of interacting many-body systems. The high degree of controllability, the novel detection possibilities and the extreme physical parameter regimes that can be reached in these ‘artificial solids’ provide an exciting complementary set-up compared with natural condensed-matter systems, much in the spirit of Feynman’s vision of ...
متن کاملFractional quantum Hall physics with ultracold Rydberg gases in artificial gauge fields
We study ultracold Rydberg-dressed Bose gases subject to artificial gauge fields in the fractional quantum Hall (FQH) regime. The characteristics of the Rydberg interaction give rise to interesting many-body ground states different from standard FQH physics in the lowest Landau level. The nonlocal but rapidly decreasing interaction potential favors crystalline ground states for very dilute syst...
متن کاملBorromean three-body FRET in frozen Rydberg gases
Controlling the interactions between ultracold atoms is crucial for quantum simulation and computation purposes. Highly excited Rydberg atoms are considered in this prospect for their strong and controllable interactions known in the dipole-dipole case to induce non-radiative energy transfers between atom pairs, similarly to fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) in biological systems. H...
